In-Shop Service Technician

Description

We are looking for a Diesel In-shop technician to join our team in Dartmouth.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Completes repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under supervision.
• Applies documented procedures and policies to complete basic repairs and schedule maintenance, including preparing required parts and tools.
• Disassemble, inspect and clean engines and /or engine components.
• Assists with completion required documentation, such as work completed documentation, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
• Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.
• Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisors.
  
  

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Truck and transport technician certification or currently enrolled in a apprenticeship in the Truck and transport program
• Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  
  

Experience

• Basic level of workshop experience required.
• General engine level experience is an asset.
  
  

About The Role

• This position is in a union environment. Working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday
• You will be working on On and OFF highway Engines (from 6.7 liters to 15 liters) on the following :
• Tandem tractors
• Firetrucks
• Transit buses
• Crane units
• Refuse units
• RV’s etc.

Qualifications

• A current valid license is required for this role
• A copy of your red seal certification or trade’s diploma is required for this position.
• This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
