The Opportunity:
A unique opportunity to live and work in the Canadian Rocky Mountains; WSP’s Canmore office is seeking a CAD Technician to join our Land Development and Municipal Engineering team.
Based in downtown Canmore - complete with mountain views and just 20 minutes from the iconic Banff National Park, our team is responsible for a diverse range of work in the region, including but not limited to award winning and innovative Municipal, Civil Land Development and Transportation projects.
Working closely with designers, engineers and project managers, this position will give you the opportunity to apply CAD and Civil 3D knowledge on project work from conceptual design through to completion, with a focus on local projects as well as the chance to work with national teams on projects across Canada.
This position also provides additional opportunities to the right candidate for project management / project coordination and to be in the field and see your work come to life.

What you can expect to do here:
- Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge in projects from concept to completion;
- Prepare engineering drawings to specified standards;
- Design assistance of infrastructure including grading, underground utilities, roads, trails, etc.;
- Project Management / Project Coordination and on site construction inspections (subject to candidate interest and experience);
- Other duties as assigned/required.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting;
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in relevant AutoCAD drafting and design, although all levels are encouraged to apply;
- Experience in working on land development private sector and/or public municipal infrastructure projects would be considered an asset;
- Knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D software is mandatory;
- Registration in good standing with ASET, or eligibility to be registered;
- Highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic team player;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a flexible attitude are a must; and
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Project Management / Project Coordination experience;
- Experience working in the field.
