Job Description:

On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for an Intermediate Cloud Engineer focusing on automation and cloud environment management. These services include AKS, compute, storage, application services, application gateways, zone/region redundancy, networking and recovery (among others). This is hands-on role which will take part in our Ansible implementation. The position is expected to provide support to other team members and be involved in various technology adoption and design review groups as well as input into the expansion of the cloud roadmap.



Responsibilities:

• Implementation and support of automation and Infrastructure as Code cloud services including compute, storage, application services, application gateways, zone/region redundancy, networking and recovery (among others).

• Working with DevOps teams for the setup and troubleshooting of Azure services to support the deployment of business applications.

• Automation through IaC (Terraform HCL), PowerShell scripts, release pipelines, Ansible, etc. Working on developer platform design and implementation. Supporting/Maintaining of their Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux virtual servers including setup and decommissions, monthly security patching, certificate renewals, OS image builds, etc.

• The position is expected to provide guidance and support to other team members and be involved in various technology adoption and design review groups as well as input into the expansion of their cloud roadmap.

• The position is expected to be part of the team’s on-call rotation.


Qualifications:

• 6+ years’ experience with infrastructure design and support or software development, inclusive of at least 2 years’ experience with cloud technologies.

• Ability to work with highly complex and integrated environments.

• Working knowledge of automation solutions such as PowerShell, shell scripting, Ansible, etc.

• Substantial knowledge and experience with Infrastructure as Code (such as ARM, BICEP or Terraform)

• Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux, including security patching/tools.

• Working knowledge and experience in designing and building Microsoft Azure (or alternative cloud) solutions by translating requirements into implementation.

• Substantial knowledge of Microsoft Azure (IaaS & PaaS, including compute, storage, application services, application gateways, zone/region redundancy, networking, recovery) or ability to map an equivalent knowledge from AWS or GCP to Azure.

• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps classic and yaml pipelines as well as CI/CD.

• Excellent problem-solving and team collaboration skills.

• Experience using Agile and DevOps tools, techniques and processes.

• Undergraduate degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math).
