Position Summary
Thales requires an Intermediate Systems Engineer, who has a demonstrated record of performance and excellence and possesses the ability to successfully complete new challenges in multidisciplinary and collaborative environments. As an Intermediate Systems Engineer, you will join the Systems Engineering teams located in Ottawa, Canada and provide system engineering support throughout the project execution cycle from specification, design, development, integration, test, and acceptance.

As an Intermediate Systems Engineer, you will join the Systems Engineering teams located in Ottawa, Canada and provide system engineering support throughout the project execution cycle from specification, design, development, integration, test, and acceptance.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Essential functions and responsibilities of the System Engineer may include:
- Tailor the system engineering process, practices and tools. Estimate and appropriately decompose work. Provide timely and accurate status updates.
- Develop the preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements. Review and validate internal and subcontractor designs, plans, and schedules.
- Identify, characterize, and describe issues in the system or its design through problem reports and document and design reviews. Author technical documentation to capture the system and subsystem designs including the architecture, interfaces, and installation elements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the designs are consistent with needs, desires, and concerns of the end-users. Support the development of verification and validation artifacts including plans and procedures.
- Collaborate with other functions during the implementation and integration of the system and subsystem designs. Resolution of technical issues arising during the implementation, integration and testing of the system and subsystem elements.
- Support the installation and/or integration testing of the systems remotely or on customer site and/or technical subcontract management including management of work scope and compliance of the (subcontractor) supplied solution.
Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or equivalent education with relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the design and integration of complex systems in the commercial and/or military domains.
- Proven ability to succeed in cross-functional/multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain clearances as specified under the Regulatory Compliance section, below.
Special Position Requirements
- Hybrid position. Full time, standard business hours.
- Possibility of occasional travel to customer site for technical support / integration activities.
- Possibility of occasional travel within Canada for planning events.
- Standard office environment with potential for minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment and connecting equipment in a lab environment or job site (including onboard vehicle or vessel).
