Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Jr Estimator to join our team at Akash Homes, based in Edmonton, Alberta. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to start their careers in estimating, with on-the-job training and growth opportunities built into the role.

The Opportunity

As a Jr Estimator, you'll be introduced to the fundamentals of residential construction cost estimating. You'll assist in preparing cost estimates, reviewing project documents, communicating with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting the broader Estimating team. This is a foundational opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and contribute meaningfully to the success of Akash Homes' builds.

What You’ll Work On

Assisting with Cost Estimates

• Support senior estimators in preparing detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects
• Compile data on labour, materials, equipment, and other project inputs
• Assist in creating quantity takeoffs based on construction drawings and specifications
  
  

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of estimates and supporting documentation
• Assist with bid proposals, budgets, and forecasting activities
• Prepare internal summaries and reports for the estimating team
  
  

Collaboration and Coordination

• Coordinate with project managers, senior estimators, and other departments
• Contact subcontractors and suppliers to gather pricing and product data
• Review and help analyze quotes received from external partners
  
  

Learning and Development

• Participate in continuous training, including industry seminars and internal mentorship
• Seek regular feedback to refine and grow technical and professional capabilities
  
  

Quality Assurance

• Help identify and mitigate potential estimating risks
• Ensure all estimating tasks are completed with accuracy and consistency
