LAB TECHNICIAN

Schedule: 7:00am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday – with shared rotating weekend coverage
YOUR ROLE
The Kamloops Pulp Mill is currently looking to hire a full-time Lab Technician to join the Technical and Customer Services team.
Your Responsibilities
The position is responsible for testing and reporting results on:
ü incoming raw material
ü final product quality
ü environmental
ü hygiene
ü in-process testing and troubleshooting
ü training and assisting in other areas in the Mill
Your Skills And Abilities
ü You are analytical and have logical thinking skills;
ü You have good communication skills, both written and oral;
ü You have strong computer skills (Microsoft applications); software database experience (QIS,
ü ParcView, etc.) is an asset but is not required;
ü You are known for your organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multitask, and have strong
ü attention to detail;
ü You are a highly motivated individual with a positive attitude and strong work ethic;
ü You enjoy working in a team and can follow directions;
ü You can work with minimal supervision and meet work deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Your Qualifications
ü You have completed a technical diploma or BSc degree in chemistry or related field (i.e. biology, bio-chem, micro-biology);
ü Previous laboratory experience is required; pulp mill and/or environmental testing experience is considered an asset;
ü Strong computer system aptitude and experience working with various types of software including Microsoft Office Suite.
