Licensing Dietitian

Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Community Care Facilities Licensing Manager or designate and working directly with licensed care facilities within the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) the Licensing Dietitian works as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Licensing Dietitian participates in licensing long-term care homes as per the applicable government Act(s) under delegated authority by the Medical Health Officer. Responsibilities include participating in the assessment of facility staff, completing inspections of facilities and monitoring compliance with nutritional care requirements. The Licensing Dietitian investigates nutrition related complaints and serious incident reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Food Sciences, Nutrition and/or Dietetics.
• Registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia, eligible for membership in Dietitians of Canada.
• Two (2) years of recent related experience with nutritional programs in a licensed care facility including two (2) years experience working in a health authority licensing program or residential community care facility.
• Valid B.C. Driver's Licence.
• An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
