Job Summary & Requirements

The Interim Manager, Diagnostic Imaging, participates in program visioning, planning, evaluation, budget development, resource allocation, utilization management, risk management and the promotion of service excellence and quality improvement for the Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, Ultrasound, MRI modalities and the nursing team. The Manager serves as the link between the Staff, Charge Technologists, Physician groups and Clinical Units. The Manager works on various projects to improve patient flow, services and outcomes and ensures that day to day operations are aligned with the department and organizational Strategic Plan, Mission, Vision and Values.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Medical Radiation Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography from a recognized post-secondary institute preferred;
  • Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists (CMRITO), preferred
  • 3-5 years current progressive experience in an acute care setting required;
  • Baccalaureate preparation in a health-related field preferred; Master’s level preferred, e.g., MPA, MBA, MHA, MA in Leadership;
  • Completion of Canadian Healthcare Association (CHA) management course(s) or equivalent would be an asset:
  • Membership and participation in a relevant professional organizations;
  • Sound management and leadership skills, professional judgment, technical knowledge, initiative, innovation, ability to organize, coordinate, problem solve, discipline, delegate and communicate with staff, physicians, volunteers, patient families, and visitors;
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills; interpersonal, organizational and team building skills;

  • Demonstrated skills as a coach, leader, facilitator, and conflict manager;

  • Knowledge of Clinical Standards of Practice for Imaging Professionals;
  • Knowledge of MIS Guidelines for Clinical Workload preferred;
  • Knowledge of HARPA, RHPA, Safety Code 35 preferred;

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, monitor and review the financial performance of the Department and initiate strategies to ensure that budgetary variances are managed.
  • Data collection and information analysis of financial, quality, utilization, and outcome indicators and development/implementation of innovative actions.
  • Provide exemplary leadership in managing human and financial resources.
  • Develops and implements staffing plans to ensure adherence to corporate priorities.
  • Ensure availability of departmental supplies and equipment to meet the needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning and Accreditation.
  • Determine operational goals and objectives, standards and policies in accordance with the corporate direction.
  • Staff Management and Development
  • Asses the need for resources based on management information which includes workload measurement, productivity reports and financial reports.
  • Human resource planning including recruiting, hiring, retention, succession planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all collective agreements, policies, guidelines, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote the development of a motivated and cohesive team. Supports education.
  • Positive and constructive staff feedback.
  • Manage safety programs.
  • Manage staff and administrative issues.
  • Manage change and foster an environment which promotes personal accountability.
  • Identify trends and risk management issues. Implement strategies to reduce risk.
  • Supervise and support licensed staff to ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation.
  • Implement and manage quality improvement initiatives.
  • Play an active role in decisions concerning equipment and supplies to ensure appropriate quality.
  • Promote quality and ethical practices.
  • Manage processes that enable the delivery of high quality services to meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Maintain a patient centred model of care.
