Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge? We are seeking a highly qualified Manager to lead commercial analysis and strategy development for the Alto project. Please note that the candidate may be based in one of our 3 offices: Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.

The role

Reporting to the Senior Director, Commercial, the ideal candidate will work closely with the Private Developer Partner (PDP), various internal teams, and key external stakeholders (e.g. Government functions, advisory teams, etc.) to advance project delivery strategies, deal structuring terms (e.g. payment mechanisms and key financing terms), and support partnership opportunities with Indigenous Communities. This individual will have: a strong background in commercial structuring, exceptional analytical skills, and experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.

The Responsibilities

  • Lead elements of deal structuring analysis and support the development of the overall deal structure.
  • Support the analysis and development of potential partnership opportunities with Indigenous Communities.
  • Contribute to the development and negotiation of key contractual terms with the PDP such as: funding and financing provisions, payment mechanisms, KPIs and performance monitoring, risk sharing provisions, compensation on termination, etc.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Financial modelling and analysis, undertake detailed due diligence of financial models, complex market analysis or benchmarks, and negotiating positions put forward by stakeholders and the PDP.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director, Commercial, monitor and analyze evolving market conditions, such as interest rate fluctuations, supply constraints, inflation and escalation to manage the contractual risks and apply analysis into commercial structuring activities.
  • In collaboration with other functions and/or Government stakeholders, support detailed analysis and due diligence across project costing, project risk analysis, and manage elements of ‘value for money’ and/or business case analysis.
  • Manage the preparation of detailed briefings and reports on the status of activities for senior management, senior Government stakeholders, and the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, attend meetings, and act as ambassador for the organization and its initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, risk mitigation and continuous improvement in relations to the commercial team’s scope.
  • Build and manage relationships with a broad number of internal and external stakeholders/partners.
  • Possible leadership of analysts; providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Support the procurement of, and manage relationships and deliverables with, external advisory teams (e.g. budget management, scope and deliverables management, etc.).

The Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including commercial structuring and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with public private Projects (P3) and/or collaborative models of delivery (Progressive P3, IPD, Alliance Model, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal skills to articulate and present advice, options and recommendations to senior management and executives.
  • Detailed, action, and results oriented.
  • Exceptional judgment and rigor.
  • Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bilingualism (English and French), both spoken and written is preferred.
