Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Hatchery operations, the Hatchery Manager is accountable for leading a team of people to exceed and deliver on key performance indicators for cost, safety, regulatory compliance, maintenance and the overall successful operation of the Hatchery. The Hatchery manager will collaborate with various Producers Associations, value chain partners and other internal and external cross functional teams. The incumbent strives to exemplify all components of the Sofina Builders profile and behaves in accordance with the Sofina values of Accountability, Integrity and Respect while holding others to the same expectation.

Position Summary

The Hatchery manager will collaborate with various Producers Associations, value chain partners and other internal and external cross functional teams. Main Duties
- Accountable for achieving financial and operational goals of the Hatchery;
- In conjunction with the Director, Hatcheries, negotiate supply and price with the Producer Associations and Breeder Boards (chicken and turkey);
- Accountable to develop and operate continuous improvement processes and practice sustainability;
- Accountable for the quality of chicks while meeting regulatory and animal welfare requirements;
- Work with Provincial Hatchery Association to establish operational and political mandates (i.e. quality of hatching eggs, hatching egg supply balance and allocations, etc.) to negotiate collectively with Producer Associations;
- Accountable for coordinating broiler chick/poult placements, to ensure proper volume and quality products for our external/internal customers (i.e. plant requirements);
- Accountable to ensure all components of the collective bargaining agreement are respected and work collaboratively with the Union;
- Accountable for ensuring a safe work environment for all hatchery employees.
- A degree/diploma in business management or related discipline, and a minimum of 5 years experience in the poultry industry, demonstrating increasing responsibility and success in various roles;
- Ability to work with procurement and service representatives to solicit and maintain producers;
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
