NVA Canada is looking for a Market Development Specialist to join our Canadian Support Centre team to provide a new level of support to our community of veterinary practices.
The Market Development Specialist is a hands-on support for NVA Canada veterinary practices looking to increase pet parent acquisition, satisfaction and retention. Reporting to the NVA Canada marketing team and working directly with Operations and Hospital Leadership teams, they develop clinic and pet owner campaigns, advise hospitals on best marketing practices for their local communities, and lead the implementation of key marketing programs and activities.

The Market Development Specialist is a hands-on support for NVA Canada veterinary practices looking to increase pet parent acquisition, satisfaction and retention. Reporting to the NVA Canada marketing team and working directly with Operations and Hospital Leadership teams, they develop clinic and pet owner campaigns, advise hospitals on best marketing practices for their local communities, and lead the implementation of key marketing programs and activities.
What You’ll Be Doing
Drive organic growth by reaching more pet parents and optimizing retention
- Lead new pet parent acquisition initiatives.
- Champion increased, contemporary pet parent communication and engagement for optimal customer service and engagement of existing clients (e.g. online booking, reminders, SMS/email, lapsing patient reports, etc.).
- Lead the site-level implementation of national campaigns and advocate for community outreach and activations.
- Oversee tactical execution and lead/organize creative where appropriate (e.g. logos, advertisements, brochures, SEM, merchandizing, flyers, mailers, and other collateral, content calendars, social media, email, websites, etc.).
- Develop campaign analytics/measurement and reporting for effective follow-through and decision-making and manage budget, vendors and agency to coordinate logistics and deliverables for all projects.
- Work alongside hospital and operations teams to understand and help build and execute individualized clinic growth plans.
- Create strategic, multi-channel marketing plans steeped in data and aligned to the overall needs and objectives of your assigned hospitals.
- Directly manage assigned hospital social properties, websites, and online reputation including partnering to curate content, optimize paid and organic posts, and respond to online customer comments and concerns.
- 3+ years in marketing, sales, or direct veterinary hospital experience. Some casual (e.g. social media) marketing experience is beneficial.
- Marketing, Communications, or Veterinary Technician Diploma or equivalent experience in a veterinary clinic setting.
- Strong project management, prioritization, organization, communication, and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience or willingness to learn M365, client communication tools, Asana, Canva, ServiceNow, AllyDVM, SproutSocial, GMB/GA, Vetstoria, e-newsletter tools, website management and clinic PIMS.
- Ability to travel up to 40% locally (in-clinic) and 10% nationally.
- Enthusiasm, positivity, flexibility, and creativity
- A passion for the veterinary industry and ambition for strategic personal and career growth
- Ability to build trust and rapport quickly
- Ability to work independently, a self-starter with a “roll up your sleeves” methodical approach to daily work, and willingness to work occasional evening or weekend (with time provided in lieu)
