Opportunity

PCRS is seeking an engaging and dynamic Marketing & Community Engagement Specialist to develop and implement strategies to raise awareness of the services and programs offered by WorkBC. This role cultivates and maintains positive relationships with service and partner organizations, local employers, government agencies and other stakeholders through integrated marketing and promotional campaigns, both online and in-person. Coupling an educational and work experience background in marketing or public relations with a desire to help people find sustainable employment, this position allows for creative solutions to marketing challenges.

In addition to using direct mail, e-newsletters/e-blast campaigns, presentations to groups, websites/webpages, and social media to market services and recruit new participants, the Marketing & Community Engagement Specialist will plan, coordinate, and execute special events at the WorkBC Centre or in the community. Professional level of communication and conduct is essential as the Marketing & Community Engagement Specialist works in the community representing PCRS & WorkBC. The Community Engagement Specialist will also manage marketing materials/collateral, including creating, updating, and distributing posters, brochures, rack cards, banners, and other assets.

Responsibilities

  • Create and distribute marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, and social media content, to promote events, workshops, and services
  • Manage and update the Midtown WorkBC social media accounts, website, and monthly newsletter
  • Represent WorkBC Vancouver Midtown at community events, job fairs, and other outreach activities
  • Promote services to potential eligible participants and assist them with registration steps
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on outreach activities and results
  • Manage Google reviews
  • Add/delete job postings to Salesforce

Qualifications

  • Certification/Degree and experience in marketing, digital media, communications, public relations, job development or related field
  • Experience with graphic design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), website content management systems (Wordpress, MailChimp/Cyberlmpact), and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, lnstagram and LinkedIn)
  • Knowledge of marketing and promotional techniques, content generation, and PR
  • Event planning and coordination, including creating staff schedules for events, developing event agendas, managing event logistics, creating, and distributing promotional materials, managing Eventbrite page(s), and compiling data for post-event reports
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector
  • MS Office and overall computer proficiency, including data administration utilizing complex data bases.

Additional Assets

  • Experience working with a diverse population
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector
  • Own a vehicle & have driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and insurance
  • Experience with public speaking (e.g., delivering presentations, speaking to large groups of people)
