Position Information

The malignant hematology/transplant and cellular therapy group is seeking a permanent, full time Nurse Practitioner to provide care to patients receiving systemic immunotherapy/cellular therapy, in close collaboration with the team of hematologists. Patients receiving complex immunotherapy at the Ottawa Hospital is a growing population, with increasing outpatient treatment delivery. This role will focus on the clinical care of hematology outpatients receiving immunotherapy/cellular therapy, the coordination of their care, and development of a robust outpatient treatment model to accommodate for growth in the coming years.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8 hour shifts.

What You Will Do

  • Establish and maintain relationships with our hematologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical care leaders and managers involved in immunotherapy/cellular therapy treatment
  • Daily clinical assessments, in person and by telephone as needed, of patients receiving complex immunotherapy at risk for adverse effects
  • Coordination of care for patients receiving immunotherapy in collaboration with their treating hematologist
  • Development of a sustainable and scalable model for safe and efficient outpatient immunotherapy, in collaboration with the hematologists and managers involved


Basic Requirements

  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Current certification/licensure as a Nurse Practitioner RN(EC);
  • Two (2) years of current experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting;
  • Minimum three (3) months nursing experience caring for oncology patients;
  • Experience in working independently within an interdisciplinary team;
  • Member of RNAO and NPAO;
  • Demonstrated organizational, conceptual and leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated advanced practice skills and competence in interpersonal relationships, problem solving, collaboration and innovation;
  • Effective and concise communication, both orally and in writing
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master degree in Nursing;
  • Member of CANO;
  • CNA certification in Oncology Nursing;
  • Minimum two (2) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Nurse;
  • ER experience;
  • P roficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
