Position Description
At The Ottawa Hospital, there are almost 200 Physiotherapists between the two acute care campuses, The Rehabilitation Centre, and two offsite Transitional Care Units. We have staff on several medicine units, General Surgery, Trauma, Stroke, ICU, Geriatrics, Critical Care, Oncology, Medicine, ALCs and TCUs, Vascular, Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Medicine, and Emergency units.
Physiotherapists at TOH are part of an interdisciplinary team typically including physiotherapist assistants and Occupational Therapists, along with Social Workers, nurses, RPNS and physicians. Many teams include SLPs, Registered Dieticians and Psychologists as well.
Rotation/Shifts
Days and evenings, including weekends, 4 and 8 hours shifts.

Responsibilities
TOH is a large teaching hospital and as such we support clinical placements for both physiotherapy and rehab assistant student placements.
For an applicant who is a newer grad or who has not worked in acute care for a long while, there are ample opportunities to learn from experienced, knowledgeable, and supportive PT colleagues. In addition to corporate orientation and EPIC training, we offer orientation to Physiotherapy in general as well as unit-specific orientation in advance of any booked shifts.

Responsibilities
- Provide care to adult patients throughout the spectrum of their stay, from emergency room to ICU and critical care units, through acute care units and in post-acute units, including short and longer -term rehabilitation.
- Promote mobility, wellness and independence at both acute care campuses, TOHRC, and UOHI.
- Use extensive knowledge, skills and clinical experience to assess, diagnose and treat a broad range of conditions.
- Be involved in every phase of a patient's journey, with an aim to improve people's quality of life.
- Master's degree in Physiotherapy OR equivalent program recognized by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO);
- Successful completion of registration and examination process for physiotherapy as set by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO);
- Working knowledge of regulatory standards set by licensing board (CPO);
- Eligible for Certification in CPR and/or First Aid;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Superior written and verbal communication skills;
- Sound judgement and problem-solving abilities;
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Recent experience in acute care setting;
- Physiotherapy Resident will be considered;
- Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advance level).
