An experienced Principal Ansible Architect.
Work you will do:
This is a high-impact project with significant visibility, offering the opportunity to shape the future of our technology landscape. As a Principal Ansible Architect, you will play a critical leadership role in driving the infrastructure automation and configuration efforts, leveraging Ansible as the core technology. You will be a technical authority, setting standards, providing expert guidance, and mentoring a team of Ansible resources. This role requires deep expertise in Ansible and a passion for building highly automated, scalable, and reliable infrastructure
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership: Serve as the foremost Ansible expert within the organization, providing technical direction and vision for infrastructure automation.
Solution Design: Lead the design and development of complex Ansible playbooks and roles for infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, and configuration management across our cloud environment.
Mentorship and Coaching: Mentor and coach junior and mid-level Ansible team members, fostering their growth and development. Conduct training sessions and knowledge sharing activities.
Standards and Best Practices: Establish and enforce Ansible coding standards, best practices, and architectural patterns to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability.
Platform Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the client's custom IaC platform built upon Ansible, integrating with other tools and systems.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem-solving support for Ansible-related issues. Identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Collaboration: Work closely with other teams (e.g., networking, security, application development) to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest Ansible features, best practices, and industry trends. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in our automation processes.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Ansible playbooks, roles, and processes.
In office attendance of 2-3 days in our local office.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in a related discipline.
English is required for this position as this role will regularly interact with stakeholders across Canada, US and other countries across our Global footprint where English is the common language. Due to the significant high volume of interactions with these English-speaking stakeholders, which is inherent to this position, it is not possible to reorganize the company's activities to avoid this requirement
Minimum 5 years of experience in all the below skills required:
Expert-Level Ansible Proficiency: Demonstrable deep understanding of Ansible architecture, modules, playbooks, roles, variables, templating, and advanced concepts. Must be able to design, develop, and troubleshoot complex Ansible solutions.
Extensive Cloud Experience: Significant experience working with major cloud providers (Azure) and their respective Ansible modules.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Expertise: Strong understanding of IaC principles and experience implementing IaC solutions using Ansible.
Configuration Management Experience: Solid understanding of configuration management principles and best practices.
Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash is highly desirable.
Version Control: Experience with Git and Git workflows.
Troubleshooting Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate1 technical concepts to both technical and non-technical2 audiences.
Mentoring Skills: Proven ability to mentor and coach junior team members.
Preferred Skills
Experience with other automation tools (e.g., ARM, Bicep, CLI, Terraform, Chef, Puppet).
Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with Azure Native Services
Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
