Hammond Power Solutions Inc. is a global manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. HPS has grown to become the leader in North America in the custom design and manufacture of dry type transformers. For the past century, HPS has grown to deliver electrical power solutions to global markets and provides solutions for complex applications like, mining, rectifier, drives, traction, wind, solar and many other electrical power applications. The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology. We currently have an opening for a Product Manager, come grow with us!
Reporting to the Manager, Product Solutions, the Product Manager is responsible for a line of HPS offerings in all major respects. This includes defining product requirements, pricing, promotion, and target markets and channels.
The person in this role works collaboratively with other Marketing team members, Engineering, Sales and other functional groups to achieve objectives related to sales, profitability and over-all strategic goals. This position will be located out of our Guelph, ON or Baraboo, WI locations.

Reporting to the Manager, Product Solutions, the Product Manager is responsible for a line of HPS offerings in all major respects. This includes defining product requirements, pricing, promotion, and target markets and channels.
The person in this role works collaboratively with other Marketing team members, Engineering, Sales and other functional groups to achieve objectives related to sales, profitability and over-all strategic goals. This position will be located out of our Guelph, ON or Baraboo, WI locations.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Translates market needs into winning products by:
- Researching market trends and potential revenue opportunities.
- Defining target markets.
- Understanding customer needs.
- Creating Market Requirements Document (MRD).
- Drive product success (from launch to obsolescence) by:
- Collaborating with Engineering to outline the Product Roadmap.
- Setting and maintaining product pricing strategies.
- Defining and managing margin goals.
- Analyzing product line to achieve key performance metrics.
- Managing product enhancements to existing offers as needed.
- Aligning sales forecast with inventory requirements.
- Coordinating product obsolescence activities.
- Coordinates launch activities with Sales and MARCOM by:
- Creating product collateral (with assistance from MARCOM).
- Managing the set-up of product information within online tools (internet, extranet, intranet, and E-Quotes).
- Defining initial product inventory requirements.
- Ensuring market success through measured market tactics.
- Supporting Sales and Channel through pre- and post-launch activities.
- Ensure effective promotion of products and capabilities by:
- Clearly outlining features and benefits of products as well as HPS capabilities.
- Identifying target markets and selecting appropriate media channels for promotion.
- Assisting the MARCOM team with maintaining product collateral.
- Supporting HPS’s presence at trade events, including pre-event planning and on-site activities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in or related to Engineering or a Technologist level diploma
- 3+ years of experience working in the Electrical Industry, Industry markets, transformers, and related magnetic products.
- 3+ years demonstrated experience in using qualitative and quantitative market research data with the ability to align the research and methodology with project requirements.
- 3+ years working as a product manager, with business-to-business market segmentation experience and familiarity with developing new segmentation models.
- Customer-centric focus with a proven track record of building lasting relationships.
- Strong coordination and deadline-oriented skills, adaptable in leading or contributing to multiple projects concurrently.
- Proficient in translating market research into clear strategies for targeted segments.
- Expertise in navigating compliance and regulatory changes, understanding their impact on market preferences and product offerings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP, analytic tools, and sound product management fundamentals.
- Available to travel 30% of the time
