About the role: 

The Seismic Instruments and Systems (SIS) division of Nanometrics is looking for an outcome-focused Product Manager, who brings a passion and keen interest in the development, market release, and ongoing lifecycle management of instruments and accessories utilized in Seismic Monitoring and Warning systems. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of developing and articulating the value propositions and technical requirements for complex technical new product initiatives, based on a thorough understanding of customer use cases and market information. This includes developing business cases, managing competing priorities, and coordinating with cross-functional teams (R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Operations) to realize a compelling product vision and comprehensive product roadmap, in support of the long-term corporate revenue growth and portfolio diversification objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Define and articulate the strategic product roadmap for Seismic instrumentation, based on a compelling product vision
  • Develop and manage the technical specifications for Nanometrics OEM products, and collaborate with R&D to ensure product development initiatives align with technical requirements
  • Become a product expert and champion, by developing a thorough understanding of external market segments, customer use cases, and competitive product offerings
  • Drive product development investment decisions via well-researched compelling business plans to ensure alignment with Nanometrics and customer needs
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of products, from initial concept through end-of-life
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to support commercialization of both new and legacy products
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • BSc in Engineering, Physics, or related fields
  • 5+ years of experience in product management of complex high-tech equipment, with solid technical understanding combined with strong business acumen
  • Proven ability to translate high-level strategic market objectives into cross-functional action plans the execution of which leads to the desired business outcome
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage various concurrent projects with tight deadlines

Assets:

  • Understanding of markets and trends, competitive landscape, industry product offerings and customer challenges
  • Product/technology development experience
  • Understanding of the manufacture of electromechanical products
  • Hands-on experience with signal processing and data acquisition
  • Technical Sales, support or business development experience
  • Experience in Geoscience or Geophysical products
