Job Purpose

As part of the Quality team, you will develop and implement quality assurance programs and procedures to assure conformance of manufactured components and finished products to establish specifications and quality standards. They create customer success by delivering the best experiences to their internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a champion and decision maker for quality related issues within the scope of responsibility.
  • Develops and implements programs to establish and maintain quality standards of existing products and services, as well as developing programs to focus employees on quality improvement.
  • Develop processes, including standard procedures, to ensure outstanding product quality (e.g., ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14000).
  • Develop methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or operations.
  • Conduct nondestructive examination (NDE) and quality control (QC) inspections at various stages to ensure established quality and reliability standards
  • Collect and analyzes statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance or identify deviations from standards.
  • Identify, report, and determine sources of quality problems which occur in manufacturing, and taking steps to assure corrective action.
  • Analyze field failure reports and returned parts to understand the source of error and initiate appropriate corrective action to preclude reoccurrence.
  • Review Engineering releases for tolerances as related to the manufacture and inspection of the product and working with Engineering personnel on revising designs to simplify manufacturing and /or inspection.
  • Work with plant and corporate quality teams on management of successful new product launches.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Manager with the development and procurement of inspection tooling.
  • Provide quality assurance support and input to production, manufacturing engineering, suppliers, and product engineering programs.

Experienced Required

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Engineer in Training (EIT) in good standing with a Canadian engineering association.
  • Previous quality engineering experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing practices and procedures and inspection methods.
  • Experience in Problem Solving Methodologies.
  • 2-5 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skill that can be leveraged to make both technical product and departmental efficiency improvements.
  • An understanding of manufacturing practices and procedures and inspection methods.
  • Multi-functional experience (Quality, Materials, Engineering, Human Resources, Safety, Operations).
  • Experience with setting departmental vision, objectives and aligning these with the budget and resources required to obtain them.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Control systems.
  • Experience in the use of quality analysis tools, such as SPC, PFMEA, DFMEA, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in database software, project software, CAD/CAM software, and Industrial Engineering Processes.
