We are seeking a Quality Control Technician who is aspiring to reach their potential in the field of construction materials and related services.
This position is a full-time permanent role with the Materials Division.
Environment
A Quality Control Technician is required to conduct material testing and be an active participant in the Quality Control process. This position will work closely with our J-AAR Materials plants and J-AAR’s Road Building division while reporting to the J-AAR Materials Site Superintendent. Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions common to a construction site.
Regular hours are 50 per week with start and end times congruent with the needs of our clients and the operations teams. Irregular hours, nights, weekends, swing shifts and holidays may be required for contractual obligations.

How You Will Make An IMPACT
- Conducting material field testing and assisting in laboratory testing of construction materials such as asphalt, aggregates, and excess/liquid soils
- Participating in activities related to the quality system
- Maintain daily checklists and quality control reports
- Communicate with production plants, and field representatives
- Complete data entry, computer use required
- Attending technical training programs as required
- Maintain a strong and effective working relationship with customers and subcontractors
- Maintain a positive company image in appearance, conduct, and communication
- Assist in equipment management, control, and maintenance
- Review, track, and summarize quality non-conformances and ensure appropriate follow-up
- Ensures the safe and organized status of materials and equipment in laboratory and field areas
- Assist and perform geotechnical investigations and inspections
- Ability to lift 50 lbs several times daily
- Willingness to cross train, and task train when needed
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field is an asset
- Technical knowledge of aggregate and asphalt quality
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- Reliable and punctual
- Excellent communication skills
- G License and clean drivers abstract
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
