Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Regulatory and Permitting Specialist to join our Consulting Group in the Whitehorse or Burnaby offices. Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Regulatory and Permitting Specialist to join our Consulting Group in the Whitehorse or Burnaby offices. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects in the Yukon and across Canada. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent technical and interpersonal skills to join our talented team in delivering outstanding service and innovation to our clients.
About The Role
- Providing regulatory advice to proponents and staff during all stages of the project life cycle, including planning and feasibility studies, EIA, and post-EIA permitting and compliance, with a focus on Yukon-based projects.
- Leading the development of environmental assessment reports, including drafting of text, editing of text developed by technical disciplines, and providing senior strategic review of documents, and guiding response to information requests and stakeholder concerns.
- Managing and tracking communication processes between proponents, environmental teams, and regulatory agencies.
- Playing an active role in identifying, planning, and executing proposals and other business development opportunities.
- Assisting in the mentoring, training, and career development of junior and intermediate staff involved in EIA and permitting work.
- Providing leadership in implementing Ausenco processes and approaches (e.g., project management, quality and safety to ensure that schedule, cost and quality objectives for project deliverables are achieved.
- A university degree, in natural sciences, resource management, engineering or business.
- 8 to 10 years of relevant professional experience in Canada.
- Experience in mining projects in the Yukon, or other Northern Canada regions, including seeking permitting and approvals in these regions.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation gained through formal studies or practical experience.
- Experience managing input from a range of environmental technical disciplines (e.g., air quality, noise, surface and groundwater quality, vegetation, wildlife, fish and fish habitat, socio-economics, archaeology).
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- A professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Eng.) is an asset.
