We are currently looking for a RT Clinical Educator, Critical Care - Paediatrics to provide leadership and promote inter-professional excellence and collaboration within the five main role components of expert practice, education, consultation, research and leadership/change agency in a dynamic clinical environment.

Here's What You'll Get To Do
- Provide expert direct patient care emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
- As a clinician with a high level of expertise, provides direct Respiratory Care for patients/families with complex cardio-respiratory conditions including assessments, diagnostic, monitoring, anticipatory care/management of complex conditions, therapeutic care and treatment interventions.
- Provides expertise and is a resource to the Respiratory Therapists for both basic and advanced skills/procedures related to complex respiratory care treatment modalities.
- Provide clinical care leadership and a high degree of expertise regarding Respiratory Care and acts as a clinical practice resource to the Respiratory Therapists and inter-professional team in efforts to identify and respond to the changing needs of respiratory care practice, new emerging treatment modalities and the need for new or expanded services.
- Collaborates with and is a clinical expert resource to the Respiratory Therapists, Inter-professional staff, Nurses and Nursing leaders and Physicians within the various sub-specialty areas to ensure appropriately knowledgeable and skilled Respiratory Therapy staff are in place to provide clinical care to patients with complex cardio-respiratory care needs.
- Provides clinical leadership and expertise regarding the evaluation and acquisition of new capital equipment and medical products/devices.
- Leads in advocating and influencing health care practice, policy and outcomes.
- Provides expertise and is a resource for quality and safety activities for the Respiratory Therapy Department and within their respective sub-specialty areas.
- Creatively uses clinical teaching to provide education / mentorship to Respiratory Therapy staff, children/families, students, and other members of the inter-professional team.
- Participates in hospital / departmental/ university and/or college learning programs as required to maintain expertise and to support lifelong learning.
- Integrate evidence-based practice into educational programs for respiratory therapy and the inter-professional team.
- Work closely with various inter-professional educators at SickKids to support global Respiratory Therapy education and professional development.
- Leads in the identification of Respiratory Therapy research opportunities by evaluating current practice and experiences.
- Initiates and leads the engagement of evidence-based practice and makes changes to improve the quality of respiratory care.
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, BSc. or equivalent
- Masters degree in education and/or health-related field (or evidence of working towards)
- A General Certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and successful completion of the CBRC exam through the CSRT.
- A minimum of 5-7 years Respiratory Care experience within an ICU/ acute care environment.
- Previous experience in education would be an asset.
- Superb communication, interpersonal, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be well organized and motivated.
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
