Position Summary
The role of the Security Guard is to deliver a consistent and superior level of customer service to clients by actively seeking out opportunities to provide assistance and support. To ensure that property rules and standards are observed by maintaining a highly visible and reassuring presence through their assigned patrol and post duties. To act as a deterrent to crime and undesired activity and help to maintain a visibly safe and welcoming property environment. This is a full time role and the successful candidate will work all shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Role
- Provide outstanding service to customers and clients, while assisting with safety concerns, illness or emergencies etc…
- Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules and regulations in a reasonable manner;
- Protect the property by performing highly visible patrols of assigned patrol areas/zones and positively engage with clients on a continual basis;
- Work closely with other departments, especially Guest Services, to provide customer service support, respond to and have accountability for the resolution of customer concerns/complaints;
- Remain vigilant for signs of criminal and/or suspicious behaviour and initiate the appropriate steps to report/follow up as per operating guidelines;
- Remain prepared to respond to crime, disturbances, fire and other emergency situations as stated in (SOP) and Emergency Response Plans;
- Where authorized to do so, respond to crimes that have occurred and ensure appropriate law enforcement authorities are summoned;
- Report and follow up on hazards and/or deficiencies identified during the course of duty
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid, CPR or AED support until medical professionals arrive;
- Maintain a detailed memo book, ensuring accuracy and prepare incident reports on all matters dealt with;
- Enforce property rules and regulations through property specific standard operating procedure as well as the Trespass to Property Act.
- Post-secondary education in Law Enforcement/Security or equivalent;
- Minimum one (1) years of shopping centre security experience preferred;
- Provincial Security License is required;
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification;
- Knowledge of Trespass to Property Act;
- Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- WHMIS and other safety courses an asset;
- Knowledge of applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation and regulations;
- Good digital literacy (Microsoft) is required;
- Prior work experience in a customer service environment is a definite asset;
- Knowledge of crowd control in emergency situations and emergency events;
- Communicate clearly, concisely, professionally and convey active listening and openness
- Build positive relationships and demonstrate commitment, effort and a "take charge" attitude
- Conflict resolution skills
- Produce accurate work with attention to detail and consistently meet deadlines
- Take ownership for actions, accept constructive criticism and make the necessary
- Overcome obstacles to get the job done, identify problems and recommend
