Role impact:

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst will be accountable for many of the team’s management reporting deliverables, including coordination and consolidation of the company’s annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes. The Senior Financial Analyst will collaborate extensively across functional areas and with business partners to provide transparent communication of financial insights and analysis to management and the Board. The Senior Financial Analyst is curious and action oriented and will focus on fully understanding business drivers and the underlying financial results, while continuously pursuing value generating insights.

What you will deliver:

  • Working with financial models, analyze financial data in combination with key performance indicators to provide financial insights and value-add recommendations to business partners and management;
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports to the Board and Audit Committee with commentary and analysis explaining variances to budget/forecast;
  • Partner with cross-functional business partners to critically evaluate assumptions, risks, and opportunities within the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes;
  • Consolidate the annual budget for presentation to Executives and the Board;
  • Support cross-functional business partners with in-depth analysis of Corporate G&A costs, and continuously monitor and evaluate reasonability of Corporate allocations to properties to ensure equitable allocation;
  • Support monthly capital and cash flow forecasting;
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis including “what if” scenario modeling to provide value-add insights to business partners and management;
  • Maintain an understanding of industry trends, key business / cost drivers, and accounting policies;
  • Focus on continuous process improvement and advancing data analytics – leverage technology solutions to streamline manual processes and reduce operational risk, enhance real-time analytical capabilities, and improve upon visual presentation of financial insights;
  • Recommend and test changes to financial reports ensuring that they remain current and


What your strengths are:

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills;
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Strong data management and Excel modelling skills;
  • Ability to build complex financial models, PowerPoint presentations, and dashboards;
  • Ability to analyze business results, identify issues and trends, and communicate findings/analysis in a clear and concise manner;
  • Exceptional attention to detail;
  • Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision and deliver high quality reports under tight deadlines.


What you need to succeed:

  • University degree in Business combined with CPA or equivalent accreditation;
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably with experience in the real estate industry;
  • Working knowledge of IFRS;
  • Tech savvy with exceptional computer skills, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities;
  • Strong business partnering and collaboration abilities
  • Knowledge of real estate accounting policies and procedures an asset;
  • Experience in Yardi Voyager an asset;
  • Experience with Tableau/PowerBI an asset.
