About The Role

On-site | Full-time

The Team Lead position oversees the day-to-day functions within the LC-MS Department. parameters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preparation, analysis and data processing of samples as required. Provide feedback on optimizing production workflows, scheduling and efficiency;
  • Coordination of team personnel and resources to maximize production, quality and efficiency;
  • Carrying out the work scheduling and daily planning activities within the team as required. Provide feedback on optimization of schedules and operational efficiency within the department;
  • Communicate with account management and login teams with regards to sample login, assigned tests, due date assignment, completion dates and corrective actions;
  • Approve and authorize results on client samples as required;
  • Responsible for routine and non-routine maintenance of instrumentation;
  • Adhere to strict QA/QC requirements and all associated policies;
  • Perform Instrument repairs and troubleshooting;
  • Informing Manager of any issues related to production, quality and efficiency within the team;
  • Notifying Manager of any issues related to facility, equipment and supplies;
  • Ensuring all tasks and procedures are carried out as specified in the documented methods and/or procedures;
  • Acting as a trainer and mentor for staff within the team;
  • Ensuring that all required record-keeping & documentation are carried out within the team;
  • Providing input on current methods, PFAS methods and procedures for writing, review and updating as required;
  • Provide feedback to the Manager on all aspects of team members’ performance;
  • Identifying training needs of team members;
  • Promoting safety awareness and practices;
  • Motivating team members to adopt a client-centric approach to their efforts;
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in chemistry or related science;
  • Previous experience in lab setting required;
  • Minimum two years of LC-MS/MS experience required;
  • Familiarity with Evolims & Webview workload management functions, workgroup creation;
  • Familiarity with ALS Tools prep data functions;
  • Team lead experience an asset but not required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to and carry 30lbs for short distances;
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Ability to stand for up to a full shift;
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant fumes;
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required.
  • Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends.
