What You Will Do
Summary
Providence Health Care's Spiritual Health team is now accepting applications for a CPE Supervisor and Practitioner to join their team. Reporting to the Director, Spiritual Health & Pastoral Care, the CPE Supervisor and Practitioner contributes to the Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) program within the framework of a Catholic Healthcare organization and in accordance with the PHC Mission, Vision, Values and Ethical Framework. The CPE Supervisor and Practitioner provides clinical spiritual services in collaboration with the interdisciplinary teams at assigned sites and is responsible for an engaged clinical presence as a practitioner as well as performing CPE responsibilities.
Your duties will include:
- Contributing to the development and implementation of a comprehensive, creative, and forward-thinking CPE program in alignment with the standards set by the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC).
- Providing excellent CPE education for basic to advanced CPE students, including didactics, supervision, coaching, planning, and oversight of the program.
- Participating in Spiritual Health and Pastoral Care team activities, including team meetings, Spiritual Health Week, retreats, and huddles.
- Providing spiritual support to patients, residents and their families who are considering or who are engaged in the MAiD process and educating students on end-of-life conversations and spirituality support of these.
- Promoting the on-going spiritual well-being of patients/residents through listening; prayer; and group support such as Memorial Services, spirituality groups, Study of Sacred text, and Hymn Sing. Planing and participating in facility-wide celebrations, such as Worship Services, Remembrance Day, and Memorial Services for individuals or groups.
What You Bring
Education, Training and Experience:
- Master's Degree in relevant theological/spiritual studies from an accredited theological institution.
- Certified in field of specialization as a Spiritual Health Practitioner.
- Certified Supervisor-Educator or may consider applicants with Provisional Supervisor-Educator (PSE) standing through a consultation process facilitated by the RAC and working under the supervision of a Certified Supervisor-Educator.
- Current membership in good standing in CASC.
- Continuing good standing in a spiritual, religious or faith community affiliated with one’s chosen tradition.

- Skilled in navigating electronic medical records, pagers, and communication channels.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Supports diverse expressions of spirituality without imposing personal beliefs.

- Handles stressful situations with sensitivity, compassion, and approachability.
- Collaborates well in interdisciplinary teams and with leaders.

- Good understanding of Roman Catholic moral teaching and ethics.

- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

- Possesses physical ability for job duties.
