Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Tax Leader-Americas to join our Group Finance team.
As a leader of the Americas Tax Team, you will assist the Enterprise Tax Leader in overseeing the tax affairs of the Americas region. This includes:
- Providing tax advice, ensuring delivery and implementation of commercial tax advice with respect to international projects, legislative changes, including mergers and acquisitions and capital management structuring;
- Managing tax risks and tax governance, overseeing and managing tax compliance obligations, tax provisions, research and tax reporting requirements including proactively advising on strategies to address gaps and mitigate risks;
- Monitoring and developing/implementing strategies to manage Americas’ effective tax rate;
- Overseeing and managing tax controversy and tax related audits and reviews, including liaison with the tax authorities and external advisors;
- Driving operational efficiencies and effectiveness through automation, process improvements and ways of working.

Key responsibilities include:
Advisory/Commercial
- Operate as a business partner to support and identify business needs and provide commercial tax advice and/or tax training
- Ensure new areas of business/revenue streams are analyzed and tax treatment/ strategies developed
- Participate in Mergers and Acquisitions, tax due diligence
- Monitor and manage Americas’ effective tax rate
- Monitor tax developments and changes to tax legislations so as to provide timely advice on potential impacts and enable strategic responses and/or implement changes
- Advise and actively educate finance and other business partners (where relevant) on relevant changes in tax legislation
- Work closely with finance team and external advisors to support the R&D/SR&ED tax incentive programs
- Work with Mobility and Secretariat teams on employee and shareholder tax issues
- Responsible for direct and indirect tax compliance ensuring accuracy and compliance with local tax laws and filing requirements
- Identify and assess tax risks and compliance gaps, delivering actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance compliance
- Lead and manage interactions with tax authorities during audits and reviews, including developing strategies and negotiating resolutions
- Drive operational efficiencies and effectiveness through identifying and actioning process improvements, including continuous development of automation using excel and other tools
- Lead and mentor tax team members, fostering development of their tax technical knowledge and soft skills through knowledge sharing, coaching, and feedback
- Foster and support a high performing tax team culture with an emphasis on customer, teamwork and personal accountability
- Assist with tax projects, Board papers and other tax matters/initiatives as required.
- Professional tax qualifications - CPA
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or related field
- Master’s degree in accounting, taxation, or related field is highly regarded
- 15+ years’ relevant experience, including experience at a Big 4 firm and/or similar role in large multinational corporate tax environment or equivalent
- Demonstrated proficiency and strong understanding of tax effect accounting, income tax provisions in compliance with IAS 12
- Demonstrated experience in leading, mentoring and developing a team
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialist tax consulting and advisory services to diverse stakeholder groups as you anticipate and support business needs
- Strong communication skills with all levels in an organization, in particular, the ability to communicate complex tax concepts in simple, layman’s terms
- Strong project management skills, proven commercial experience with ability to influence others in the achievement of business objectives
- Business proficiency in Spanish with a demonstrated ability to discuss accounting and tax matters with native speakers would be an asset
The salary range for Seattle is $170,660-$255,990 depending on exact location and experience.

- Paid time off – Our PTO benefit is designed to provide eligible employees with a period of rest and relaxation, sick, and personal time throughout the year. PTO starts at 16 days per year and increases with years of service
- Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee
- Wellness Benefit- Regular full-term employees are eligible to participate in the wellness reimbursement program. GHD will reimburse 50% of the cost of the following to maximum of $250.00 reimbursement annually for such items as: Health club membership fees, Home exercise equipment purchases, Bicycles, Race, run & marathon entrance fees, Smoking cessation programs, Weight loss programs (i.e.—Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig), Fitbits and Fitness Tracking devices
