The Test Engineering Manager provides verification and validation support for product development and manufacturing of technologically advanced underwater warfare systems. You will influence product and process design by being an expert voice for Design for Test and supporting Design for Manufacture.

Responsibilities

Job Description

  • Lead and manage a team (–5 - 10) of Test Engineers, Technologists
  • Support Program Managers and Project Engineers in planning and implementing verification activities within project schedules.
  • Support Operations in planning and implementing verification activities within production schedules.
  • Collaborate with project management, design, manufacturing, quality assurance, and test engineering colleagues in a concurrent engineering approach to achieve excellence in new product introduction.
  • Review product designs, especially electronic circuits, assemblies and firmware, with an emphasis on design for test.
  • Develop, review, and contribute to verification plans for products throughout the life cycle.
  • Select and tailor appropriate verification techniques such as inspection, analysis, simulation, and test to be applied to satisfy requirements, considering the verification scope and known constraints, risks, safety, and criticality.
  • Develop verification procedures for design proving, qualification, acceptance, field testing, and manufacturing for components, assemblies and systems.
  • Manage, design, develop and support automated test stations and other tools used for verification in manufacturing.
  • Coordinate tests conducted at external test labs and field test facilities.
  • Investigate and analyze product and test system problems to identify root causes and develop solutions.
  • Continuously improve test processes by monitoring trends and coverage, and investigating internal and external quality shortcomings.
  • Manage equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and repair activities within production schedules

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical or a related discipline, or commensurate experience
  • Test Engineering experience in a design and manufacturing environment
  • Supervisory experience
  • Eligible for Canadian NATO government security clearance

Preferred additional Skills:

  • Verification plan development.
  • Test design for electronic systems.
  • High quality documentation: design descriptions, verification plans, test procedures, test reports.
  • Problem solving, electronics troubleshooting, root cause analysis.
  • Design, simulation, schematic capture using OrCAD or a similar tool suite.
  • Data analysis using MATLAB, Excel or similar.
  • Test program development using LabVIEW or a similar tool.
  • Collaboration within a team.
  • Initiative and personal organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Experience with underwater acoustics engineering or analysis.
  • Experience in RF engineering.
  • Experience with Lean practices.

Typically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and 8+ years of related experience and 3+ years experience as a people leader Lean Six Sigma certification preferred May be required to maintain security clearance
