Environmental Services Supervisor:
This is a Permanent Full Time (1.00) opportunity.
Shifts of work will be scheduled Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 15:00.

About the Job
Environmental Services Supervisor:
- Oversees day to day operations of designated staff in all phases of environmental cleaning and laundry services by prioritizing and reorganizing work assignments due to staffing changes; in discussion with the manager or designate, arranges for relief staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff.
- Provides orientation and training for designated employees in work procedures and correct use of supplies and equipment.
- Monitors employee performance and informs the manager of any performance issues or skill improvement needs.
- Performs and/or directs the performance of a variety of environmental cleaning duties such as stripping and making beds; cleaning and tidying items such as cupboards, lockers, tables; washing/dusting/polishing furnishings and fixtures, washing walls, windows and ceilings; waxing, scrubbing and polishing floors and stairways; and vacuuming and shampooing carpets.
- Maintains workload statistics and production records and implements production standards for individual work areas where necessary; adjusts work assignments as necessary.
- Performs and/or directs the performance of a variety of laundry duties such as collecting and sorting soiled linen, loading and unloading washers and dryers, and operating same by selecting wash cycles, setting temperatures and switching machines on and off. Checks machines regularly to ensure safe and efficient functioning. Scrutinizes clean linen for required mending or stains. Sorts, folds, and counts linens for control purposes. Distributes linen to user areas.
- Reports major and minor repairs or refurbishing required; completes and forwards requisitions for repair to the Maintenance department.
- Supervises project work such as carpet cleaning and window washing as assigned and provides status reports to the manager or designate.
- Performs quality assurance inspections and completes written reports on findings. Assists staff in the development of new work methods and procedures, identifying problems and making recommendations for alternative solutions.
- Orders and replenishes cleaning and laundry supplies and recommends purchase of equipment as required. Performs departmental inventory.
- Maintains records such as laundry production, equipment repairs and product, and linen usage as assigned.
- Performs recommended audits and evaluates services being provided to ensure established standards of quantity and quality assurance expectations are met and maintained.
- Ensures safety and sanitation practices and procedures are adhered to by utilizing checklists and other audit tools. Reports any problems in accordance with established procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
