Healthcare Security Officer
As a member of our Healthcare Security team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, staff, and healthcare partners. Healthcare Security Officers work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, urgent and primary care clinics, patient care units, and access control posts. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, situational awareness, and the ability to respond effectively to security and safety concerns in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Salary: $24 - $25 per hour

Healthcare Security Officers work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, urgent and primary care clinics, patient care units, and access control posts. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, situational awareness, and the ability to respond effectively to security and safety concerns in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Patrol and monitor assigned healthcare facilities to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and property.
- Maintain a visible security presence and provide exceptional customer service throughout healthcare sites.
- Monitor patients requiring additional observation and report any concerns or changes in behavior to healthcare staff.
- Control access to designated areas and ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures.
- Respond promptly to security incidents, medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazards.
- Utilize effective de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques to manage challenging situations.
- Support healthcare staff by maintaining a safe environment and assisting with safety-related concerns.
- Complete accurate incident reports, logs, and documentation in a timely manner.
- Conduct security checks and inspections of assigned areas.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams, first responders, and facility personnel as required.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, visitors, staff, and members of the public.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow established emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
- Valid BC Security Worker License.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals in a healthcare environment.
- Previous security experience, preferably in healthcare, hospital, clinic, or customer service settings.
- Excellent observation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or challenging situations.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and incident documentation.
- Ability to complete detailed reports, multitask, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Community Justice Services, Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field is considered an asset.
