Title: Heavy Duty/ Field Mechanic

Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM AM - 5PM, occasional

Saturdays, 10 Hours days, flexibility required in shift changes for seasonal maintenance

Status: Fulltime, Permanent

Location: Sherwood Park

Wage/Salary: based on experience and education

About the Role:

As a Heavy-duty equipment mechanics repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment used in construction, transportation, forestry, mining, oil and gas, material handling, landscaping, land clearing, farming and similar activities.

Experience Requirements:

  • Check all heavy equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose defects in vehicles, light and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Diagnose any faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair that is required.
  • Inspect, repair and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to
  • the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required.
  • Operate automotive servicing equipment,
  • Installation of new and added-on equipment.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports

Education Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Must hold a Journeyman's certificate, or have a Red Seal.
  • Minimum completion of high school diploma and technical training.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license, Class 3 with air as an asset.
