About The Job
The Registered Nurse:
Practices in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care
Works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
Ensures the delivery of client–centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs
Demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities
This is a Relief Full Time (1.00) opportunity until December 05, 2026, or the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:30 to 19:30, 19:30 to 07:30 hours.
About this Location
The Royal Inland Hospital NICU supports the care of sick neonates from across Interior Health. We are one of two tertiary centers outside of the lower mainland. Utilizing and influencing the latest evidenced based care of neonates, the NICU is located in the heart of the Interior in Kamloops BC and serves a population of neonates and their families 30 weeks and over, while stabilizing other acutely ill infants and accessing BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital as the primary referral site as needed.
We pride ourselves on ensuring that new staff are set up for success. Education days and unit orientation are imperative to ensure that you feel prepared to care for our diverse patient population. This education and commitment to improve and maintain skills is ongoing and you will have an educator on the unit to support you. We have inhouse SIMS equipment, which allows this ongoing education. Opportunities to take on special projects, additional education and the opportunity to pursue leadership pathway is promoted and available. Our team works very closely with a variety of experts including our multidisciplinary team where you can learn from our physicians, obstetricians, pediatricians, midwives, social workers, dieticians etc.
