As Solar Facility Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining solar facilities to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. You will maintain daily logs, troubleshoot, test, inspect, and repair various solar equipment, and perform routine maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds. You will also recommend changes to enhance performance.
This is a fully on-site role.

Pay Range
$67,200.00 - $84,000.00

As Solar Facility Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining solar facilities to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. You will maintain daily logs, troubleshoot, test, inspect, and repair various solar equipment, and perform routine maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds. You will also recommend changes to enhance performance.
This is a fully on-site role.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and environmentally sound operation and maintenance of all Company’s solar sites to which you are assigned. The assigned sites are Belleville North, Belleville South, Burks Falls East and Burks Falls West.
- Required to travel to all assigned sites to complete routine maintenance and repairs. As well as provide support to other Northland Solar sites in Ontario as required.
- Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule to support continuous and reliable site operations
- Optimize electrical generation at each of your assigned facilities.
- Direct and manage all contractors required to operate and maintain the facilities.
- Direct and oversee part time operators that support snow clearing on assigned sites and weed management in the summer.
- Ensure Management of Change process is adhered to and documented.
- Closely adhere to all safety standards and procedures. Encourage and recognize others completing safe acts and intervene when unsafe acts are practiced.
- Demonstrate integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis.
- Promote a culture that reinforces Company values and expectations.
- Effectively gather information from available resources when needed and implement corrective actions and plans as required.
- Follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, executing plans as directed and perform according to reasonably detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Effectively contribute to a strong team environment through assisting teammates in accomplishing mutual goals, supporting and promoting team spirit and cooperation.
- Proactively look for improvement opportunities to job related processes and procedures and communicate through appropriate channels.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

- Completed High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completed or in final year of completing Journeyman Electrician certification.
- Must hold a ticket in 309A Electrician Construction & Maintenance or
- Experience in understanding and reviewing technical documents, including manuals, procedures, diagrams, and schematics.
- Experience in performing preventative and corrective maintenance on high voltage equipment, transformers, switchgear, substations, inverters, and various systems (SCADA, UPS, communication, weather, and security).
- Experience maintaining facility grounds, racking systems, solar modules, and buildings, including cleaning and upkeep tasks.
- Experience using SCADA control systems and diagnostic equipment (power analyzers, thermography, oscilloscopes).
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Teams).
- Ability to hear alarms, detect equipment sound changes, read instruments and gauges accurately, and communicate clearly on radios.
- Experience with various solar arrays and modules.
- Ability to work alone when needed, work flexible hours, respond to emergencies 24/7 and be available on standby.
- Have and maintain a valid class G driver's license, traveling is required.
- Able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, enter confined spaces and work under various weather conditions.
- First Aid & CPR Certified.
