The Role

Reporting to the Lead Software Developer, the Application Specialist-Geophysics is responsible for ensuring the effective operation, and support of software products provided by Seequent. This role bridges the gap between end-users and technology, ensuring that applications are configured, tested, optimized, and utilized to their full potential. The primary focus of the job is to provide technical expertise to test, troubleshoot complex issues, recommend best practice workflows, and collaborate with development and product teams to enhance application functionality. By understanding both business needs and software capabilities, an Application Specialist helps maximize efficiency, improve user experience, and ensure the quality of our products and the ongoing success of our customers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide quality assurance for the projects in development, by planning and testing, identifying and documenting defects, and working with developers and product managers to fix and verify issues.
  • Provide feedback on system improvements based on user experiences and operational challenges.
  • Create, execute, maintain manual and automated tests (in Ranorex and/or other auto web test tools).
  • Field technical Level 3 Support escalations from via SFL in a timely and professional manner
  • Replicate, diagnose, and resolve application-related issues. Triage, log, and escalate to Development when necessary.
  • Retrospectively review the need for escalation, identify steps to proactively address where possible (i.e. internal/external training opportunity, GTST knowledge base addition, etc.) to improve future support.
  • Act as a liaison between users, product managers, and the Development Team to help communicate feedback and feature requests.
  • Contribute to the development of application improvements by providing insights into user needs.
  • May assist in developing and reviewing product documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Work closely with other Seequent product teams to support cross-product workflows and integrations.
  • Participate in cross-product collaboration sessions to ensure seamless user experiences and data consistency.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Geophysics, other related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical support, application support, or customer-facing software role
  • Familiarity with data management principles (data ingestion, validation, integrity, delivery)
  • Understanding of cloud-native software platforms and web application architecture
  • Experience with API Integrations and troubleshooting
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical users in a clear and professional manner
  • Customer-focused mindset with a strong commitment to user satisfaction
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Additional Information

Office-based working environment, work from our Toronto, Canada office two to three or more days per week.
