THE OPPORTUNITY


POSITION + SCOPE

The Associate will join the Vancouver-based team and be embedded across the full deal lifecycle including sourcing, diligence, execution, and portfolio value creation while also managing all administrative functions associated with deal making. Reporting to Matt Miller, Director, this is a high-responsibility role suited for a high-performing, self-motivated individual who thrives in a performance-driven environment. The ideal candidate values autonomy, is results-oriented, and is deeply invested in the quality of their work and relationships.


DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Build robust financial models (LBO, DCF, comps, sensitivities) to assess the attractiveness of opportunities and assist in the preparation and review of QofE reports.

+ Support due diligence efforts, deal structuring, and negotiation processes, while managing all administrative aspects related to transactions.

+ Prepare detailed, insightful investment memoranda that effectively communicate key findings and recommendations.

+ Engage with lenders, advisors, and management teams to help move deals forward efficiently and effectively.

+ Support portfolio companies on strategic and operational initiatives as needed, contributing to long-term value creation.

+ Conduct deep market and industry research to inform deal origination strategies and investment theses.

+ Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal team members, portfolio company leadership, and external advisors.


YEAR ONE CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS

+ Demonstrate the ability to independently manage key stages of the deal lifecycle, including sourcing, diligence, execution, and portfolio support, delivering timely and high-quality work with minimal supervision.

+ Build robust financial models and prepare insightful investment memoranda that effectively inform decision making and reflect a deep understanding of the investment thesis.

+ Develop strong relationships and trust with lenders, advisors, management teams, and internal stakeholders, enabling smooth deal progression and effective portfolio engagement.

+ Demonstrate initiative and independent thinking, while contributing as a collaborative team member. Proactively seek opportunities to add value to the firm, its investors, and portfolio companies.


SKILLS + EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE + QUALIFICATIONS


+ 2+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, transaction services, or corporate finance.

+ CPA strongly preferred; CFA or CBV designation a plus.

+ Advanced financial modeling and analysis skills, with fluency in Excel.

+ Strong research capabilities and analytical thinking with the ability to assess complex problems and develop clear insights.

+ Experience preparing or reviewing QofE reports considered an asset.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

+ Undergraduate degree required, preferably in a quantitative or business-related discipline.
