Pomerleau Inc. is looking for an experienced Cost Control Analyst to join the team at our Vancouver Office. As a Cost Control Analyst working in the Civil & Infrastructure team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a key role in contributing significantly to the analyzing of the cost controls within our projects. Supporting our work on large-scale construction projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion - you will ensure compliance within the standards of established when projects are opened whilst also collaborating with the project team in establishment of budget structures.

What You Will Do

  • Leads evaluation of monthly payment applications from Project Contractors, meets process timelines and performs evaluations to required level of validation, focusing on items associated with cash allowances and utilities.
  • Liaises with Field teams, Project Contractor and the client
  • Negotiates and resolves payment issues and escalates when appropriate.
  • Develops and implements best practices and issue resolution using the experience of other projects, external projects, professional experiences and external resources.
  • Compiles and provides cost data from monthly payment valuations to Project Controls, Finance and Contract and Commercial to enable analysis, reporting and change valuation.
  • Expedites monthly commercial deliverables to ensure understanding of the Project's financial performance.
  • Conducts monthly reviews of construction progress in the field teams and works with Project Controls to validate monthly performance metrics of contractor.
  • Attends key commercial and construction meetings, both internal and external.
  • Undertakes other Project related commercial and financial tasks as required.
  • Analyze and ensure the integrity of monthly closing cost controls, including inter-divisional transactions.
  • Collaborate and contribute to the monitoring of risks and opportunities and discuss major deviations with the Cost Control Manager and Regional Leadership.
  • Report any discrepancies or major problems identified during the cost control review to the Cost Control Manager and Regional Leadership.
  • Have active participation in the development of new analysis tools and coordinate their implementation while providing training to users (Dashboard and others).
  • Assist in the training of new employees on cost control tools and procedures.

This role could be for you if you have

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ relevant experience in as a Cost Control Analyst; / or in similar analyst positions.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting cost analysis & resource planning
  • Previous experience in civil and infrastructure construction preferred
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required for this role to effectively communicate with clients and team members
  • Previous experience in automated testing for quality assurance of cost reporting is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in training and mentoring on cost reporting & projections is considered an asset.

  • Terms of employment : Permanent position based full time in office at our Regional Office in Vancouver
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours of full-time work per week
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range offered is between $85,009.60 - $100,000 and eligibility to participate in company bonus and share ownership program
  • Up to 5% RRSP matching after the waiting period
  • 4 weeks vacation
  • Extended coverage for health medical and dental benefits, paid by the employer
  • Annual salary increases of 2-5% based on performance may be available

The expected salary range for this opportunity is $85,000 - $100,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program which is listed above. Availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
