About The Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Real Estate Operations, the Construction Project Coordinator plays a key role in delivering SNDL’s construction initiatives. This role is responsible for budgeting, tracking construction progress, coordinating permitting and licensing, and ensuring a seamless transition from project completion to store opening.
The ideal candidate brings quantity surveying or deep construction budgeting and planning experience, along with familiarity with ERP systems. They thrive in a collaborative environment and can effectively manage multiple stakeholders.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities
Construction Planning & Execution
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and licensing teams to align construction plans with store opening timelines
- Prepare detailed budgets based on scope of work for transforming shell spaces into finished retail stores
- Obtain and evaluate quotes (e.g., CCDC2) from general contractors and trades; recommend vendors for project execution
- Write and evaluate RFQs for construction and related services
- Attend store handovers, conduct progress reviews, and participate in final walkthroughs and inspections
- Track project progress, report on completion percentages, and escalate delays or deviations as needed
- Identify and resolve construction issues, risks, and scheduling conflicts in a timely manner
- Own and manage the overall construction activity plan, including task sequencing, forecasting, and resource planning
- Work closely with the VP, Construction to prioritize and assign internal/external resources
- Maintain weekly activity reports and provide insight into potential workflow improvements
- Document decisions and approvals; prepare and edit related communications and reports
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimizations across construction operations
- Ensure accurate tracking of changes to project scope, with visibility on cost and scheduling impacts
- Develop and implement standardized planning methodologies applicable across multiple sites
- Participate in planning/scheduling meetings and contribute to scheduling strategy and efficiency
- Quantity Surveyor background or extensive experience in construction budgeting and project costing
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in a related field
- Project Management experience in retail construction strongly
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
- Solid MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability, and effective multitasking in fast-paced environments
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to balance diverse stakeholder input
