Our District
The North Vancouver School District is situated upon the unceded traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. The school district provides world-class instruction and a rich diversity of engaging programs across 25 elementary schools and seven secondary schools to inspire success for every student and bring communities together to learn, share and grow. With over 16,000 students, their parents and guardians, and more than 2,600 staff, with an annual budget that exceeds $250 million, there is a strong sense of community across the district.
The Role
Reporting to the Secretary-Treasurer, the Director of Financial Services provides strategic leadership in the stewardship of the school district's finances and assets. This role is responsible for the effective oversight of financial operations, including accounting, payroll, purchasing, budget development and financial reporting. The Director ensures timely, accurate, and consistent financial analysis to support decision-making and inform budget priorities.
Key responsibilities include overseeing financial reporting, development of annual and multi-year financial plans and reports, preparing financial statements and liaising with auditors, and leading a high-performing financial services team. The Director implements internal controls, manages financial risk, and provides direct support to schools and departments.

We are looking for an exceptional leader, who possesses a high level of integrity, excellent communication and influencing skills that are critical in working across a large, complex organization with a variety of stakeholders.
This is an exempt position. Our employees receive salary and benefits commensurate with the responsibilities of this position. The salary for this role starts at $159,416.

The Requirements

- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing.
- Minimum ten years of progressive experience in accounting and finance with at least 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably within the K-12 education or public sector.
- Exemplary financial planning, reporting and management skills.
- Outstanding, dynamic leadership skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate, build effective teams and communicate effectively at all levels; and
- Proven ability to present technical information to a variety of audiences.
