Job Description And Requirements

We are looking for an individual to join our Electrical Maintenance team here at TC Transcontinental Printing. TC Transcontinental is Canada’s largest printer and at our location in Calgary, we print variety of flyers, the Globe and Mail and the Calgary Herald.

Our maintenance department operates on a shift rotation that observes two day shifts, two night shifts, and 4 days off. Our shifts our 12 hours in length. We also offer a night shift premium of an additional $2.40 per hour. Employees are eligible for group benefits after a successful completion of 3 months. Transcontinental also offers a pension plan, profit sharing, free onsite gym, a safety boot allowance, a yearly tool allowance, computer purchase program, and much more!

Working in our Electrical Maintenance department means you provide support to our teams that produce printed product for our customers! Depending on the needs of the plant during your shift, we may be working on preventative maintenance projects and responding to a wide variety of issues ranging from troubleshooting electrical problems on our press equipment, to our building electrical systems. This would be a great position for someone that enjoys a challenge, variety, and problem solving!

We wear the below personal protective equipment during our shifts: hearing protection (provided), safety glasses (provided), CSA approved steel toed boots (boot purchase program), uniforms (provided) and masks (provided). We ask all employees to complete warm up for work stretching before and during their shifts, and work together every day to contribute to a safe work environment.

Employees joining our team will be working on their feet for their shift duration, and will frequently push, pull, lift, bend and reach.

Successful candidates must have their Electrical Journeyman Certificate or EET Certification, and be able to pass a criminal record background check, as well as a pre-employment physical including a drug and audio testing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical preventative maintenance services for plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical breakdowns of manufacturing equipment, hardware and software.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with internal customers
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Effectively communicate with team members, production staff, and managers
  • Understand and practice the application of company culture and values
  • Ensure all Health and Safety standards are understood and practiced and that all work is being completed in a safe manner
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to 5S workplace organization standards

Required QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a post secondary Electrical program / Journeyman Certificate required, or EET Certification.
  • 1 – 3 years’ successful manufacturing industry experience
  • Superior analytical and equipment trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of PLC software and electrical equipment repair
