Job Title: Human Resources Manager

Reporting directly to the VP of People and Culture, the Human Resources Manager plays a vital role in overseeing both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the HR function within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team and help lay the groundwork for long-term success.

This role is central to building a cohesive and compliant HR infrastructure—responsible for supervising HR staff, supporting policy development and compliance, and serving as a key advisor on complex people matters. The Human Resources Manager will also ensure smooth alignment and collaboration between our office and field operations, contributing to a strong, consistent employee experience across the company.

Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To)

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and mentor HR staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Oversee daily HR operations to ensure efficient and consistent service delivery.
  • Offer strategic support and guidance to the talent acquisition team on recruitment planning, job postings, and candidate evaluation to ensure a streamlined and effective hiring process.

Incident & Report Management

  • Oversee the reporting and documentation of workplace incidents, ensuring timely investigation and resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in compliance with legal and company requirements.

Policy Development & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks that reflect current legislation and company values.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with employment standards, human rights laws, health and safety regulations, and internal policies.

Employee Relations & Issue Resolution

  • Manage and support resolution of employee relations matters, including investigations, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for sensitive workplace concerns and provide sound guidance to managers and staff.

Training, Development & Performance Management

  • Identify training needs and implement programs to support employee growth and operational excellence.
  • Oversee performance management systems, including goal-setting, evaluations, and development planning.

Organizational Development

  • Assist in workforce planning and organizational development initiatives to support company growth and efficiency.
  • Evaluate current structures and recommend improvements to enhance clarity, accountability, and communication.

HR Reporting & Systems Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR metrics, including headcount, turnover, and recruitment data, to support data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure effective use of HRIS systems and maintain high standards in documentation and recordkeeping.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Support compensation planning, benchmarking, and administration of employee benefits programs.
  • Assist in compensation reviews, salary surveys, and pay equity initiatives.

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Support the development and execution of the company’s overall HR strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and management on HR-related issues, organizational structure, workforce planning, and culture.
  • Liaise regularly with site-based HR personnel to ensure alignment, consistency, and responsiveness in HR practices across locations.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other related duties and projects as reasonably assigned to support the overall success of the People & Culture function.

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proficient in HRIS systems; experience with UKG considered a strong asset.

Experience / Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory role
  • Experience in mining, construction, heavy industry, or remote project environments preferred
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations, with a strong understanding of investigative procedures, documentation, and confidentiality best practices.
  • Prior involvement with or support for site-based HR teams is an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, HR compliance, and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential matters
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others

Work Location & Conditions

This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced, and at times stressful working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CA$100,000 - CA$140,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
