PROFILE

We are currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented individual to join the Business Law department as a Legal Administrative Assistant for a one year full-time contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and expedite the flow of work through the law clerks and professionals' practice, initiating any follow-up action as appropriate.
  • All aspects of file maintenance, including, opening and closing files, preparing of sub-files, filing of emails, correspondence, etc., and full responsibility for the organization, filing reports and locating of manual files.
  • Use initiative and good judgement to relieve the professional and clerk of administrative detail with respect to accounting, docketing, billing, etc.
  • Assist the professional with administrative matters including scheduling meetings.
  • Liaise between the legal professional, clerk and various internal and external individuals, groups and clients at all levels.
  • Preparation of and transcription of legal documents and correspondence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Administrative Assistant or Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma coupled with a minimum of five years’ experience.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a professional demeanour.
  • Strong written, oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective organizational, problem-solving and administrative skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload within a fast-paced environment.
