Join the Assessment and Taxation Branch, a critical team responsible for managing 60% of the city's annual operating budget. We're seeking a detail-oriented Analyst who will track and optimize our key processes. In this role, you'll drive efficiency by developing, maintaining, and standardizing branch processes and associated tracking spreadsheets, while also contributing directly to the timely delivery of assessment notices and tax bills. In addition, you'll support major branch projects, improve business processes, and conduct data analysis to enhance performance and workflow.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across the branch to understand their operational needs, and identify, create and optimize tools and processes to support them
  • Facilitate meetings and ongoing discussions to understand existing tracking sheet usage and identify areas for improvement. Gather all necessary requirements and ensure there is proper documentation for associated processes
  • Assist in running daily/monthly/annual reports for branch stakeholders as necessary
  • Determine the need for new tracking sheets that will support operational workflows
  • Design and establish a monitoring process to meet specific operational tracking requirements. Implement data validation, formulas and/or conditional formatting to ensure accuracy and efficiency all while creating user-friendly interfaces for data entry and reporting
  • Support the management of three complex mailout projects, requiring coordination of cross-functional project teams
  • Plan, prepare, develop and maintain project management materials and process documentation as necessary to support each mailout process
  • Develop, update, maintain and implement processes for the branch, sections and units within the Branch in alignment with A&T’s business and strategic plans
  • Other related responsibilities


Qualifications:

  • An under-graduate degree in a related discipline
  • 2 years progressively responsible and diversified experience in the areas of project management, process improvement, quantitative and qualitative analysis, customer research, usability testing and business case development


Assets:

  • IABC preferred, PMP preferred
  • Business analysis training is preferred


Skills required for success:

  • Knowledge of process management and process improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of project management principles and proficiency in project management processes
  • Knowledge of data collection and user research techniques, results analysis and presentation
  • Highly developed communication skills in all forms and at all levels
  • Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to communicate, persuade, negotiate and build consensus with people at varying levels
  • Ability to explain complex technical and operational concepts in simple business language, data and visuals
  • Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships on a diverse team
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving skills and mental agility
  • Ability to work independently and partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in Google Apps
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (ie. Tableau, Webi) and project management tools
  • Highly self-motivated, self-starting, organized and professional
  • Ability to advocate and animate the findings of qualitative and quantitative research in a compelling way


Work Environment:

  • Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Up to 1 permanent full-time position

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week

Salary Range: $41.172 - $51.438 (Hourly); $72,534.77 - $90,620.90 (Annually)
