Welcome to Vista Radio! We are now hiring a Provincial News Reporter to be based in Victoria, B.C.!

In storytelling, the details matter, you will bring your detail-oriented, accurate and objective approach to find, create and tell stories from the province.

The Provincial News Reporter is a critical role central to our strategic growth in British Columbia, following the recent acquisition of 21 Bell Media stations in the province. You will have a proven track record covering B.C. politics, adept at navigating complex political environments to identify and report objective truths. You will possess sharp analytical skills to recognize spin and distortion, consistently delivering balanced, unbiased reporting from the legislature and across your beat.

In addition to political expertise, you will bring a solid background in business reporting, capable of producing compelling in-depth features and sophisticated data-driven journalism with clarity, precision, and insight.

Position Description

• Cover the legislature when in session.
• Research and write news stories for websites.
• Voice track stories for newscasts.
• Accept responsibilities and stories as assigned by the Senior News Director.
• Pitch story ideas to Senior News Director.
• Post to social media.
• Participate in provincial-level news meetings.
  
  

Position Requirements

• Should have extensive provincial reporting experience and applicable broadcast/journalism education.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong on-air delivery.
• Self-starter.
• The ability to work within a fast-paced environment both individually and with a team.
• A valid driver's license.
• Working familiarity with Adobe Audition, KLZ Newsroom, WordPress and on-air software is a plus.
