Reporting to the Director, Risk Operations, the Regional Risk Manager, Quebec will be responsible for monitoring and identifying any current or emerging risks within the regional portfolio and ensuring alignment with overall strategic and risk appetite objectives. The Regional Risk Manager will be a key resource within the province to provide subject-matter expertise related to economic and housing trends for internal stakeholders and customers.

Reporting to the Director, Risk Operations, the Regional Risk Manager, Quebec will be responsible for monitoring and identifying any current or emerging risks within the regional portfolio and ensuring alignment with overall strategic and risk appetite objectives. The Regional Risk Manager will be a key resource within the province to provide subject-matter expertise related to economic and housing trends for internal stakeholders and customers.
Here is where you will be focusing to ensure your success.
- Leverage analytics to monitor and proactively identify any emerging risks within the insurance portfolio. Complete thorough analysis of any risks and provide recommendations to mitigate accordingly.
- Provide local subject-matter expertise related to provincial economic and housing trends, regulatory environment, loss performance, and underwriting policy (focused on real estate risk) for internal stakeholders (Risk Management, Underwriting, Sales, Loss Mitigation).
- Support business initiatives to drive thought leadership within the region through market presentations, quarterly regional updates and discussions with customers.
- Develop strong relationships (e.g., lenders, appraisers, industry associations, etc.) within the region.
- Monitor regional key performance indicators and identify opportunities for improvement or address any areas of concern.
- Lead monitoring on effectiveness of collateral decisioning within the region, optimizing collateral tools to drive efficiency while ensuring high confidence in accuracy.
- Proactively manage and identify higher risk properties within the region.
- Complete risk assessment of new lenders within the region focused on identifying any gaps to established underwriting policies.
- Support internal fraud teams with any regional-specific concerns.
- University degree in economics, commerce or related field
- Minimum 5 years of risk management and/or underwriting in a mortgage lending environment
- In-depth knowledge of regional macroeconomic metrics and trends
- Advanced knowledge of residential property market within Quebec
- Strong analytical skills – demonstrated ability to drive insights through data analytics
- Fluent in French and English
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with a sense of urgency
