As an Test Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc., you play a key role in implementing innovative product test strategies and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches. You will also be responsible for implementing continuous improvements to the testing and data analysis process. In this role, you will report to the Test Engineering Manager.
You Will Make an Impact By:
Salary Pay Range: $60,000 to $90,000 per year. This range is a reasonable expectation of pay for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience, education, training, operational and business needs and other considerations.
As an Test Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc., you play a key role in implementing innovative product test strategies and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches. You will also be responsible for implementing continuous improvements to the testing and data analysis process. In this role, you will report to the Test Engineering Manager.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Learn and implement the state-of-art product testing and data analysis processes.
- Understand overall customer product requirements. Develop and implement test strategies for new products, ensuring that all products are tested and validated according to product requirements before they are released to production.
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to the testing process, including the development of new testing methodologies, tools and capabilities.
- Interface with design team to conduct failure analysis and address potential failure mode mitigation/elimination to at least the subsystem level. Track mitigation or elimination of failures modes to assess improvements and update analysis by evaluating test results.
- Conduct product performance tests in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
- Use statistical analysis software to analyze data and draw data-based conclusions.
- Master’s or higher degree in engineering, mechatronics, physics or a related field.
- Attention to detail and a strong desire to learn.
- Strong background with data analysis, statistics and problem-solving methodology.
- Experience in statistical data analysis using Microsoft Excel and JMP/Minitab (preferred).
- High comfort level with hands-on operating and maintaining test equipment and tools.
- Strong interpersonal communication and team skills.
- Flexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often.
- Experience preparing and presenting technical information to peers and to all levels of internal management.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a test engineering role.
- P. Eng. eligible.
- Experience with optics or characterization of optical materials would be considered a strong asset.
- Experience with reviewing and evaluating electrical circuit diagrams and mechanical engineering drawings highly desirable.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.
- Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, fumes, strong magnets, confined spaces, lasers, microwaves, and vacuum/pressure systems.
- Flexible and willing to work in very fast-paced environment where tasks and priorities may change often.
