VP, Commercial and Farm Insurance will drive the transformation of Commercial and Farm portfolios (including commercial auto) by delivering an optimized underwriting experience that drives sustainable profitable underwriting results and growth across our distribution channels working closely with Pricing and Retail Sales leadership. This role plays a key leadership role in envisioning the changing nature of risk and strategies to integrate new products, business models and capabilities to set the organization up for long-term success.

How You Will Create Impact

  • Develop and implement strategies and plans to ensure profitability, risk management and growth for Commercial and Farm insurance portfolios, aligning products with client needs and organizational goals.
  • Oversee the development of market-disruptive products or services that meet unique client needs in the commercial and farm sectors.
  • Lead the charge in shaping and refining underwriting standards and risk appetite guidelines for Commercial & Farm, striking an exceptional balance between market competitiveness and strategic risk management.
  • Procure and manage external partnerships in support of our Commercial and Farm strategy.
  • Collaborate with Retail Sales management to contribute to the client engagement strategy and programs that will increase sales, retention, profitable growth, and realize integrated business results.
  • Provide Farm and Commercial subject matter expertise to all internal business partners.
  • Participate as a member of the P&C Insurance Solutions (PCIS) leadership team contributing to strategic planning, corporate growth goals and profitability and evaluating performance against objectives.
  • Drive digital transformation by spearheading initiatives that leverage data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to innovate underwriting processes and product development.
  • Partner with the VP, Auto and Home to optimize the shared service model across the Underwriting & Product Solutions (UPS)
  • Inspire and guide a team of insurance professionals toward achieving corporate goals with a strong focus on client centric culture and accountability.

To Join Our Team

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance or a related discipline
  • CIP or FCIP Designation preferred
  • Minimum 7 years experience in progressive leadership roles focusing on small to medium sized commercial insurance business with experience in the development and execution of strategic product development and underwriting initiatives
  • Previous experience leading the growth of farm insurance business would be considered an asset
  • Strong ability to build sustainable relationships with both executive level and with business unit operations internally.
  • This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

What You Need To Know

  • You will travel regularly, one week per month
